“I must fight with all my strength so that the little positive things that my health allows me to do might be pointed toward helping the revolution. The only real reason for living.” – Frida Kahlo
Remembering the spirit of Frida Kahlo Is remembering her revolutionary politics and her commitment to the Communist Party. Her quote above demonstrates that to the end of her life she was motivated to make the world a better place for oppressed people in Mexico and around the world. This print is dedicated to her life as a revolutionary that marched in the streets and organized to make life better for her fellow citizens, the Indigenous, the laborers and for women. I also believe that as a detribalized woman, Frida tried to reconnect with her Indigenous roots. She has been accused of appropriating Indigenous aesthetics for style, she might not have been perfect but I think she was trying to reconnect just as many of us today are doing. Trying to reconnect with her ancestral culture.
