We come from the earth and the earth has no borders. I’ve been working with the image of the Tlaltecuhtli, whose body was used to make the world we walk on. Created by the gods for humans to have a place to live. Tlaltecuhtli's body and its features become the grass we walk on the flowers we find so beautiful and the mountains we stand in awe of. The land was never meant to be cut up or to be made into property to be owned. As a Diosx they are talked about in both the feminine and masculine, although some argue that Tlatecuhtli has to be one of the other, I feel they carry both, just as we see the two spirit in contemporary Native Societies. Something that was part of Mexica society, as was documented when the colonizers arrived in Tenochtitlan and recorded seeing “men” dressed as “women” or trans folk as we would address them today.
