Who can tell me what movie I watched that inspired this print?

This quote made me really think about how the elections often, but especially this year, feel so tense. The reality is we live under a colonial government that was literally built with the blood, bodies and suffering of Indigenous and African peoples whose land and lives were stolen. This will always be true.

For many people that voted they did so to get rid of a racist, fascist, awful man out the White House. Some of his lackeys will go with him and others still remain in positions that allow them to abuse their positional power.

But when I think about power that is not who comes to mind. I believe that the real, deep, earth shaking power is in us. US. The people. Time and again the change that is needed comes from people of conscience who fight collectively, often against these very politicians in government, to protect our communities, fight back against exploitation, to demand what is rightly ours and defend against policies that effectively hurl us quickly toward death. That to me this is true power.

So I hope that people don't lose their insurgent spirit just because there are Democrats at the helm. Democrats, like Republicans, throughout history have devastated our communities through criminalization, repression, containment, abandonment and dispossession.

I hope this little print can serve as a reminder of your power. Don't let a new administration put your fire out. The fight is far from over.
