The Xiuhcoatl in the Nahuatl culture was associated with fire and solar heat, these are things that have been a major part of human life since we learned to harness their power and use it to cook food and keep warm. Today we have seen the ways that solar heat can be harnessed as a source of energy to power the world we live in. But fire has also become a serious threat to humanity, as climate change has altered the way our environment works we see the threat of fire to our health. Since 2018 we have had yearly fires in Northern California with smoke that has created health hazards for all life, from humans to little birds who breathe in all the toxics from burning rubber, plastics, wood and metals. It shows us how we need to move away from fossil fuels that have put our environment out of balance and threaten all life on earth.
